Custom made
Electronics, Animatronics, Set Items & Props
For as long as I can remember I have been asked to build custom devices, electronics, props and interactive items for use in shows and immersive experiences. These have always merely sat alongside other roles such as LX or LD. However, I offer these creative services independently for various applications, such as a counting-down prop explosive for an indie film, or a creepy moving robotic statue with rotating head for use onstage.
What?
So, what have I built in the past?
LED controllers, a moving statue, interactive telephone systems, a moving and ticking Geiger counter, the LED headdress for The Vicar of Dibley, traffic light control systems for an immersive environment and a variety of other props and custom devices! All built from the ground up often integrating recycled parts where possible and safe to do so.
Create.
The creative process can be focused on analogue or digital technologies to be interactive for immersive spaces, optimised for theatre (such as DMX integration) or standalone. In addition, my visual aesthetic holds its own strong identity, not fearing to shy away from making props appear to look aged, well-used and with its own history. This, however, of course, is not a must and any props will be constructed to suit the brief. Please note that the electronics can also be designed and constructed externally to be installed into a pre-existing or third-party prop or set item.

Below are a few random pictures of the devices and props I've made. Sadly I don't have many pictures of some of the things I've made, as time progresses, I intend to take more for your viewing pleasure.
