JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH

JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH
This was an absolute blast. A playful children's show for the family to enjoy as we followed James on his magical journey meeting strange characters and overcoming the most unusual of circumstances. With audience involvement from the get-go this was a show that really tugged at my past as a family and children's entertainer.
THE PROJECT
This project from the very begging could only be described as fun, though not without its challenges. Having to contend with AV and a revolving set, this production posed many challenges to overcome. With moments of complete and utter absurdity, my design needed to truly bring the children into the wonderful and bizarre world of James and the Giant Peach.
THE DESIGN
My design for this production was in constant development. Even up to the point of the fit-up itself as the set including the revolve was re-positioned slightly last minute. This, of course, posed challenges, however, this was overcome quickly and the fit-up resumed. The design incorporated a combination of both intelligent and conventional stage luminaires to bring the most bizarre of worlds to life both onstage and in the auditorium. From the inside of a peach to a strange-looking house, from the deep blue ocean to New York City. An extremely key part of this production for me was having a close relationship with the cast and director, something that allowed ideas to be tested with ease in the rehearsal phase.
