THE LOVELY BONES

If you know The Lovely Bones, you know it's a roller coaster of emotion. With grim themes running throughout, with senses of assault, rape and murder The Lovely Bones is a dark twisted tale. From moments of fear and sadness to love and discovery, this was a complex and challenging production to light.

PROJECT

This was one of the more challenging theatrical productions I've worked on with multiple factors to contend with, including AV and a strangely shaped set with multiple levels including some rather difficult to light areas due to restrictions in place from the physical set and live flown aspects. Nonetheless, this production was an interesting show to light from the very beginning.

THE DESIGN

This was one of the most challenging theatrical productions to design. Aspects of the set and blocking alike caused issues for me as an LD. With aspects of the set covering the performers with minimum room for lighting to be incorp[arated into the set this required heavy planning and was successful when the design came to life. The design was heavily reliant on both LED, Automated and conventional lighting technology alike, bringing the best of both new and old to create a sense of eminence dread that would make the audience's heart thump, but also moments of serenity and naturalism. There were also multiple requirements from me as an LD for specific lighting effects, from a police chase to a dark representation of the twisted mind of George Harvey.
